Ron Bidulka's Incompetent Analysis
When St Marys Ontario Council hired Ron Bidulka of Deloitte and Touche they finally found a consultant who would give them costs they liked. Of course, the figures make no sense.
Take Ron Bidulka's Net Cost Analysis. Here's the table he presented
That's right Ron Bidulka is saying its more expensive to retrofit Cadzow Park pool for $3.35 million than to build a $7.1 million indoor pool. Why would he subtract the figures from $16-million? That's just incompetent analysis.

I looked through the handout from the meeting for the context of the Net Cost Analysis shown. Bidulka was trying to say that the town was going to have retrofit the Cadzow Pool anyway so they should put the money into a new pool at the arena instead.
I didn't pay attention to his chart because his assumption that the town needs to spend $3.65-million on retrofitting Cadzow Pool is wrong. The pool needs about $0.25-million in repairs not $3.65-million. Of course they could spend $3.65-million but that would turn the pool into something completely different.
Now that I look at his chart I see what Bidulka did was pretty silly. He was obviously jumping through hoops trying to please Council and that chart shows him falling on his face. Wasn't he supposed to be giving an objective opinion?
