Motion That Government Grants Should Be At Least $5 million
Motion 266-2004 September 28, 2004
Be it hereby resolved that the Town Council for the Separated Town of St. Marys give approval of the proposal to expand recreation facilities at the St. Marys and Area Arena and Community Centre Complex based on the attached financial model and assumptions therein (received Tuesday, September 28, 2004 as prepared by the Living Life Steering Committee ) with all of the following conditions to be met:
1. The total capital project cost including furnishings and equipment shall not exceed $15,000,000.00
2. The total provincial and federal grants for capital shall be not less than $5,000,000.00.
3. Local fundraising for capital shall be not less than $5,000,000.00
4. Local tax support for capital shall not exceed $5,000,000.00
ALSO THAT
The facility expansion shall include a second ice pad, a pool complex, a fitness centre, community services office space and improved
canteen facilities
AND FURTHER
That the expansion might also include an auditorium and might include daycare facilities.
Instead of this motion St Marys Council passed motion: 267–2004
That the Council for the Separated Town of St. Marys postpone a decision on the motion on the floor until a Public Meeting on October 19, 2004.
