Living Life Project Too Costly
Jennifer Leslie in the St Marys Journal Argus reports that St Marys Council will not pursue the Living Life Project as originally proposed. Instead there will be a strategic plan for all recreation in St Marys which staff will work on over the summer months and have a concrete proposal for council in the fall.
At the June 28 council meeting attended by about 20 people Mayor Tony Winter said the message he is getting is, "yes, the project is a little rich, scale it down."
Councillor Gerry Teahen said "I think we can do a project but not at the level proposed."
Councillor Bruce Symons said of the Living Life Project "It's too costly as proposed"
Councillor Dave Cunningham said "There needs to be a stronger focus on recreation," and to include all areas and age groups.
Councillor Marg Luna said "I don't like the numbers, they scare me to death." and went on to suggest, "looking at alternatives to LLP and going forward with something."
